We are having several seminars during the course of our coin show this year. A full schedule will be posted soon.

All seminars will be held in our seminar room. The first door on your right as you enter the main entrance.

LEARNING LOBBY for you to get involved!

 Coin Collecting for Kids

Stop by the Youth Tables in the lobby to participate in fun and informative activities.
This year we are doing an “Adventure Checklist.” Each youth will explore the different stations and collect stamps along the way. Children can arrive at any time during the show, and work through the stations in any order.

The goal is to provide a variety of activities that encourages kids to stay engaged while introducing them to coin collecting in a hands-on way.

      • As children complete each station, a volunteer will place a sticker on their checklist.
      • All youth who visit our Youth Table will receive a free Mystery Coin Bag.

See below for a list of stations:

 
1. Treasure Tray Challenge
Children search through a tray of mixed coins to find a special coin. If they find one, they keep it.
 
2. Treasure Mine Activity
Kids dig through bins filled with pinto beans to uncover coins. Hidden among the coins will also be decorative gems. Each child may keep 2 coins, and if they find a gem, they can exchange it for a prize from the prize table. 2 coins per kid…and a gem if they find it.
 
3. Coins Around the World
Using a large world map and a selection of foreign coins, children identify the country where their coin came from. If they find it correctly, they keep the coin.
 
4. Guess the Coin
Three mystery coins will be displayed. Children take a guess and flip over the card to see the answer and fun fact.
 
5. Coin Drop Challenge (Plinko)
Instead of using a prize wheel, we’ll use a small tabletop Plinko game. Wherever the token lands determines the prize the child wins. This will have different categories of coins, and they can pick from the category that their coin lands on.
 
6. Design Your Own Coin
Children design their own coin using cardstock circles, markers, colored pencils, stickers, and other craft supplies. A “Parts of a Coin” educational display will help them understand what belongs on a real coin while they create their own design.

The Youth Activities table at our 2023 show setup in the lobby. Kids would participate in fun activities in numismatics and would receive free gifts.

The Children’s Dyslexia Centers of Central PA

The Children’s Dyslexia Center of Harrisburg works with youth diagnosed with dyslexia to provide them with the tools and techniques they need to manage their condition. Through the efforts of our tutors and staff, local children are able to improve on their academic success and build a foundation for lifelong success and learning.
